The Build

A 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air known as GMonster.

Vehicle History

The 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air is arguably the most recognizable American car ever built — the finned, chrome-laden icon of the 1950s. Though outsold by Ford in its day, the '57 Chevy became the definitive symbol of the rock-and-roll era.

Known for: the most iconic American car of the 1950s
